The federal government has outlined a ‘playbook’ to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine for free, once it becomes available.

The plan is “much larger in scope and complexity” than any previous vaccination response and involves the Health Department, the CDC, and the Department of Defense.

People will likely need two doses of the vaccine, 3-4 weeks apart.  The vaccine will be free for all Americans, but plans for administering the shots will be up to state and local officials.

Much of the plan is still considered ‘flexible’ until a vaccine is approved by the FDA.
