John Boyega Had Some Strong Words For Disney
John Boyega had some strong words for Disney when it comes to his role in the Star Wars series. In an interview with British GQ Boyega defended Rise of Skywalker director, J.J. Abrams.
“Everybody needs to leave my boy alone,” Boyega said. “He wasn’t even supposed to come back and try to save your sh*t.” Fans of the franchise criticized Abrams for “undoing” Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi among other things.
Boyega also discussed the racism he suffered on the set, from stylists being over critical of his wardrobe choices and hairdressers not having the knowledge to with his hair.
He also criticized Disney for being pushed to the forefront for the promotion of the film, only for his role to have little significance, “What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up,” said Boyega.
