Lil Nas X recently appeared on CBS Sunday Morning and spoke on the music industry and how it handles “anything sexual” from queer artists.

“It’s always been, ‘Okay, if you’re gay, this needs to be sanitized. Let’s not include anything sexual.’ It’s like, ‘Be gay without being gay. We don’t wanna know what happens behind closed doors, or we don’t want you to express that,’” said Nas X.

Nas admits he was scared to come out but knew he had to “stand in his truth,” for the sake of others like him.

Moving forward Lil Nas X says he’s working towards the day when it’s “no longer ground-breaking” for LGBTQ artists to find success.
