As Snoop Dogg approaches his 50th birthday, he’s rollin’ harder than ever, with a new TV series, new animated film, and two new albums.
The “Gin & Juice” rapper announced Monday night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he’s dropping his 19th solo album, titled Algorithm, in November. He recently became a creative consultant to Def Jam Records, and he’s also producing a kids project for the label.
The Doggfather stars as Pastor Swift in 50 Cent‘s new BMF crime drama series which premiered Sunday on Starz. He told Fallon that this is like destiny because if he was not a recording artist, he would have become a preacher.
“I’m a manifester,” he said, “I spoke on it and it came to life.”
The hip hop icon is also featured as the voice of Cousin Itt in The Addams Family 2 which hits theaters Friday.
Born Calvin Broadus, he turns 50 years old on October 20, and his wife is hosting a players ball party in his honor. You can expect the ganja will be flowing, and Snoop says anyone who attempts to match his reefer smoking is in trouble.
“I filled a lot of hospital beds with those kind of people,” he told Fallon, “This is a grownup sport. I’m a heavyweight. When you step into the ring, you got to be prepared for all things.”
