The Name ‘Karen’ Has Taken A Plunge In Popularity
People aren’t comfortable with people named “Karen.” The name is associated with white middle-aged women who use their privilege as a reason to not follow society’s guidelines or as a way of demeaning others.
A new online survey from the casino gaming website PlayOJO says that 62 percent associate the name with entitlement, obnoxiousness, privilege, and being demanding.
69 percent of adults wouldn’t name their child Karen, 6 percent of people would date someone named Karen and 18 percent would feel uneasy if their mother-in-law had the name.
